Kenmore District Kindergarten held an ‘Entertainment Extravaganza’ on Saturday 26th July to raise money for outdoor musical instruments and a Bush Tucker garden. The kindergarten children put on a concert and guests were treated to entertainment by the Fabulous Lemon Drops. Kindy parents put on a bake sale and lemonade stall, and a raffle was also run from prizes generously donated by local businesses.
Dr Bruce Flegg MP was on hand to announce the winner for the major prize, a very generous donation from lawn services organisation, Cut My Grass, Trim My Hedge. Dr Flegg was very impressed by the ‘sensational’ turn out at the fundraiser, and praised the efforts of the organising committee in putting on such an event. Dr Flegg said “We realise that the important years of children’s education is, in fact, the early years. Kenmore District Kindergarten has been around for over 50 years, and we should all appreciate the hard work and involvement of the staff and parents that help to keep kindergartens such as this one going.”
Kindergarten President Louise Raben said, “our outdoor play area has become one of the largest and most enticing in the western suburbs… it’s what sets us apart from the other kindys! The purchase of the new equipment will greatly enhance our outdoor facilities and supports our ‘learning through play’ philosophy. We encourage you to come and see our fabulous facilities at our Open Day on 2nd September, and see why Kenmore District’s kindergarten and mini-kindy programs are in such demand.”
